Description	:	Maria was the daughter of Nancy Keeney and Henry Montgomery. In some records her name is spelled Mariah and Marie. She married Jarrett C. Huddleston on Jan. 7, 1841 in Fayette County, WV. Their children were John Paddy, Henry Montgomery, William Hamilton, Ella Settle, Daniel Frederick, Mary M. "Mollie", Nancy Jane "Nannie" Davis, and Early Burton. Following her death, Maria was buried on their farm along the Kanawha River and the James River and Kanawha Turnpike, present-day U.S. Route 60, at Falls View. In some records her name is spelled Mariah and Marie. She married Jarrett C. Huddleston on Jan. 7, 1841 in Fayette County, WV. Their children were John Paddy, Henry Montgomery, William Hamilton, Ella Settle, Daniel Frederick, Mary M. "Mollie", Nancy Jane "Nannie" Davis, and Early Burton. Following her death, Maria was buried on their farm along the Kanawha River and the James River and Kanawha Turnpike, present-day U.S. Route 60, at Falls View. According to family members and other records, in the 1930s her remains were disinterred and transferred to the Old Job Huddleston (Craig) cemetery during construction of housing in Falls View for employees of Union Carbide's EMCO (Elkem) plant and associated mining operations. The cemetery is on a hill above the plant, located just downriver from Falls View at Alloy (Boncar). Maria Huddleston was reburied next to her husband. Inscriptions on the stones marking graves on either side of the spot identified as the grave of J.C. Huddleston are no longer legible or the stones were left unmarked originally. The markers on either side of the JCH headstone are shown in attached photographs; one of them MAY be the headstone for Maria (not confirmed). These headstones are in a row with some of the children of Maria and J.C. Huddleston but also intermixed with other family members. The older photograph of the village of Falls View shows an area that was once bottomland in the John Paddy and Jarrett Huddleston farms where Maria and her husband were first buried. The chimneys in the left foreground are remains of the John P. Huddleston home and inn (built by Daniel Huddleston). Jarrett and Maria's farm was just east of it--to the far left in the picture.
