Strait, age 56, entered into rest on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at his residence in Concordia, Kansas. He was born March 3, 1961 in Concordia, Kansas to Jack and Donna (Kalivoda) Strait. He was a 1979 graduate of Concordia High School, where he wrestled for CHS all 4 years. He attended Cloud County Community College in Woodworking. He loved sports, mostly “football”, and golf, he appreciated wood working, racing especially in his teens and into his 20’s. Jay loved and lived his life with a positive attitude. He loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He married Jenny Fisher in June of 1982. Jay later married Kim Womack on June 17, 1994 in Concordia, Kansas. Jay worked in the grocery business for 27 years and was an assistant manager. Jay is survived by his wife Kim of the home, 2 sons, Noah and Chase Strait, a daughter, Bailey Strait, his father, Jack Strait, all of Concordia, KS.; 2 brothers, Renus Strait (Donna), Tabor, SD.; Danny Strait (Carla), Quinlan, TX.; sister, Lisa Schubert (Chris), Chaseburg, WI.; 4 grandchildren, Evan, Brayden, Isabella and Myla. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna, step-mother, Pauline, son, Blaize Charles Strait, Step-father, Max Minard, Step-brother, Dolan Rossiter. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 6 pm – 8 pm. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas Memorial contributions may be given to the Cloud County Health Center in c/o Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
