Jay Hamlin, of Allen, who came down to Crystal lake last Saturday to spend a few days at camp life, was stricken with heart failure Monday afternoon at about 10:30 o'clock while taking a dip in the lake with a party of bathers. After donning a bathing suit at the Feldman boat yard he walked to the end of the long pier and plunged off into the cold water. After returning to shallow water J M Champion, of Hartington, one of the bathing party, noticed Hamlin leaning forward with his face in the water and on going to his assistance soon discovered that the man was dying. He was carried to the pier and every effort was made to resuscitate him but in vain. Dr C H Maxwell was called and pronounced it heart failure. Coroner B F Sawyer was called and took charge of the remains and conveyed them to Allen, where the funeral services were held Tuesday.
