Phillip Hedges Sr., 66, of Hillsboro, Ohio, died Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 1999, at his residence. He was born March 9, 1933, in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of Elmer and Ursula (List) Hedges. On September 7, 1954, in Wilmington, Ohio, he married Shirley (Black) who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jocelyn and Rob Goubeaux, West Hollywood, Calif., and Amie and J.R. Gallaugher, Chillicothe; two sons and daughters-in-law, J. Phillip R. and Tammy Hedges, Hawaii, and Brad and Barb Hedges, Carroll, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Barbara Hedges, Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Chaz and Miranda Gallaugher, Chillicothe, Jonathan Hedges, Hawaii, Nathan Hedges, North Carolina, and Zach, Jake and Nick Hedges, all of Carroll, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bryan Hedges; one daughter, Daphne Hedges; and one brother, David Hedges. Mr. Hedges had been a prison administrator with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections for 35 years. He was a member of the Hillsboro Lions Club, a member of the the Board of Directors of the Samaritan Outreach Services, a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Action Organization and a member of P.E.R.I. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with Chuck Tabor officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday (today) at the funeral home with Lions Club memorial services held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Outreach Services, 537 North East Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or to the Sight Saving Programs of the Hillsboro Lions Club, P.O. Box 711, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
