Description	:	Jean Belle Savage, 98, of Columbus, formerly of Central City, died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Prairie Village Retirement Center in Columbus. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City, with Msgr. Nelson Newman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery near Silver Creek. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the church. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Savage was born on Oct. 29, 1912, in Polk County to John and Kathrine (Kontor) Lisko. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Savage. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter, Maxine Wessel of Lady Lake, Fla.; two sisters, Valeria Smolenski of Osceola and Regina Sutko of Reno, Nev.; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Lisko of Omaha. Also left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Theresa E., William A., David E. and Rebecca J.; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She received her education at District 39 in Polk County. On Sept. 11, 1935, Jean was united in marriage to Tony Savage at St. Mary's Catholic Church north of Osceola. They resided for a time in Columbus, Ord, and West Point until September of 1941, when they moved to the Washington, DC metropolitan area where Tony had an appointment with the Department of the Navy. They lived in this area until 1977, when they returned to live in Central City. Tony died on May 15, 1999, and Jean continued to live in Central City until she moved to Columbus in 2002. Jean was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City and the Altar Society. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Dorothy Lisko, Melania Kubas, and Alta Rakowski; and three brothers, Edward Lisko, Leonard Lisko (who was killed at the Battle of the Bulge); and Clifford Lisko.
