Jean Welsh was the third child born to Allen and Leila Pearl (Wince) Hall on Jan. 24, 1927, in Newark. She was a 1944 graduate of Newark High School and a member of St. John's U.C.C. Mrs. Welsh worked as a secretary for Newark Fiberglas, she was the bookkeeper for her husband's Newark Fruit Company and a teacher's aide and Librarian for Conrad School which she dearly loved working with the children. She married Jack Welsh on Feb. 16, 1952. Mom, although you were tiny to most people, to us you were the biggest and strongest person we have ever known. Thank you for all your love and guidance. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Carol Welsh of Newark, and Daniel and Lori Welsh of Newark; daughters, Maggie Shepler of Newark and Jackie Frazier of Newark; grandsons, Chaska and Asa Welsh, Wes, Matt and Seth Shepler, and Dallas and Clay Frazier; granddaughter, Taeya Welsh; great-grandsons, Levi and Eli; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marji Hall of La Mirada, Calif.; brother, Larry Hall of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Paul Plants Jr. of Heath; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Jack Welsh, who died on Sept. 26, 2001; son-in-law, Norman E. Shepler Jr., who died on Nov. 23, 2003; grandson, Cory Prouty; and three sisters, Mildred Oder, Marjorie Chrisman and Betty Wheeler Hughs. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 59 N.
