Spargur of Hillsboro. She graduated from the Bishops School in La Jolla, Calif., in 1936, and was regarded as an 'honorary' member of the Hillsboro High School Class of 1936. Perin, 80, of Oxford, died Thursday afternoon, Sept 9, 1999. She was born Sept. 22, 1918, the daughter of Lyne (Letcher) and John C. Spargur of Hillsboro. She graduated from the Bishops School in La Jolla, Calif., in 1936, and was regarded as an 'honorary' member of the Hillsboro High School Class of 1936. As a child she traveled with her family and had attended school in Florence, Italy for a brief period of time. She received both her bachelor's degree (1940) and master's degree (1941) in botany from Vassar College. She married Charles T. Peron, Jr., also of Hillsboro, on Dec. 27, 1941. During the war years they lived in Cleveland and Dayton and Washington, D.C. In 1947 they moved to Oxford when her husband returned to his alma mater to become a professor of psychology at Miami University. Dr. Perin retired from Miami in 1976 and preceded her in death in 1996. This year she was honored as a 50-year member of the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church. She also was one of the longest running volunteers for the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Oxford. She began her volunteer service in 1966 and continued until her heath failed. She contributed a total of 2,198 hours of service in the hospital gift shop and was designated as one of the first volunteers of the month in 1990. She also had been a longtime member of the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Bell Society since 1959. She is survived by one son, Charles T. Perin III and wife Susan Goodwin of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Nancy Perin Axmacher and husband Bruce of Wyoming, Ohio; and one grandson, Daniel Perin Axmacher of Wyoming, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 [Oxford]. . . .There also will be funeral services held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, 602 S. High St., Hillsboro, with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials be made to the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Oxford; highland County Historical Society; or to the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church.
