Born in Blockhouse, January 1, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Lawson and Luella (Ernst) Aulenback. A graduate of Normal College, Truro, Jean taught for 36 years at schools in Oakland, Mahone Bay, Western Shore, Chester Basin and Blockhouse. She was a member of Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and elder. Read More	Jean Madlyn Veinotte Halifax Herald 2/28/2008 VEINOTTE, Jean Madlyn - 84, Blockhouse, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Born in Blockhouse, January 1, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Lawson and Luella (Ernst) Aulenback. A graduate of Normal College, Truro, Jean taught for 36 years at schools in Oakland, Mahone Bay, Western Shore, Chester Basin and Blockhouse. She was a member of Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and elder. Jean enjoyed making quilts and gardening, and was very interested in family history and genealogy. She was a driving force behind the publication of books on the Langille, Ernst and Aulenback families. She was recently presented with a Certificate of Recognition by the Municipality of Lunenburg for her many years of volunteer services to the Blockhouse Fire Department. She is survived by her sister, Mildred (Earl) Dauphinee, Fauxburg; brother, Harry (Evelyn) Aulenbach, Blockhouse; nieces, Doris Ernst, Halifax; Gail Dziuba and Kathy Aulenbach, Calgary, Alta.; Wendy (Ted) Wojewoda, Nanaimo, B.C.; nephews, David (Barbara) Dauphinee, Sterling Heights, Mich.; Derek (Sandra) Purcell, Orleans, Ont.; grandnieces and nephews, Carrie and Cheryl Dauphinee, Jemil, Reyhan and Deyvis Dalman, Donovan and Justin Purcell. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, R. Lester Veinotte, and grandnephew, Christopher. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 29, in Trinity United Church, Rev. Ruth Brown officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Old Blockhouse Cemetery, Blockhouse.
