Description	:	KEARNEY — Jeanet "Cookie" Myers, 68, of rural Wilcox died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Rev. Tom Mroch officiating. Burial will be at Elm Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney and one hour before service time at the church. She was born Aug. 11, 1938, northeast of Hazard in Sherman County to Lawrence and Alma (Beethe) de la Motte. On March 22, 1963, she married Ralph Myers in Kearney. He died in February 1997. Survivors include her son, Tim of Axtell; daughter, Paula Fuestman of rural Wilcox; brother, Dewane de la Motte of Holdrege; and sister, Venla Bartels of Holdrege. Additional survivors include her daughter-in-law, Karen Myers of Axtell; son-in-law, Robert Fuestman of rural Wilcox; brother-in-law, Delbert Bartels of Holdrege; grandchildren, Kellin, Jenna and Trevor Myers of Axtell and Emily Fuestman of Wilcox; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4½ miles east of Hazard, Aug. 28, 1938, and was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna May 24, 1953. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church from 1970 until she died. She was educated at Hazard, Minden, Blood Run and Ravenna schools until 12th grade. She worked in care homes and cooked at various restaurants in Kearney, Elm Creek, Odessa and Holdrege. She lived in Elm Creek until October 1990, when she and her husband moved to Shelton for three years. They also lived in Hastings and Hildreth. After her husband's death she moved to Axtell, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. They moved to rural Wilcox, where she lived until her death. She enjoyed all kinds of sports and was a talented craft person. She enjoyed stock car racing and doing anything with her grandchildren. While she lived in Elm Creek, she kept the books for the Elm Creek High School basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams for 10 years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles, and his wife, Dorothy. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Kearney, Wilcox Fire and Rescue or the American Cancer Society.
