A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elm Creek. Father Alex Borzych will officiate. Orsborn, 84, of Kearney, passed away March 9, 2019 at her home at Cambridge Court Assisted Living in Kearney. Jeanette Orsborn was born near Elm Creek, Ne. on the family farm on November 12, 1934 to Ben and Opal Siebenaler. She graduated from Elm Creek High School in 1952 and married William Orsborn, her high school sweetheart. They had their marriage blessed in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Elm Creek on May 30, 1952. Jeanette was a loving wife and mother to her family. Survivors include her three daughters (and spouses): Deb Turner (Ed) of York; Demaris Dietz (Christopher) of Kearney; and Diane Zodrow (Steve) of Oberlin, KS. Grandchildren include: Shane Miller of Minnetonka, MN; Sheri Miller-Nelson of Chilicothe, MO; Nick Turner of York; Emily Grabau (and her husband Andrew) of Fort Collins, CO; Katie Hutton (and her husband Andrew) of Omaha; Christian Grant (and his wife, Alyssa) of Thornton,CO; Stefan Karstens (and his wife, Kathy) of Gokels, Germany; and Lars Karstens of Parma Heights, Ohio. She always said she had the best sons-in-law a person could ask for: Ed, Christopher and Steve. Also her great-grandchildren: Lane Nollendorfs of Lincoln; Brooke and Brendon Nelson of Chillicothe, MO; Paige and Harding Turner of York; Ella, Alexis and Eva Grabau of Fort Collins, CO; Avery Grant of Thornton, CO; and Lewis and William Hutton of Omaha. Jeanette is also survived by a sister Judy Marshall (and her husband, Robin) of Kearney , a brother-in- law Otto Orsborn of Kearney and a sister in-law, Juanita Wenberg and her husband, Kenneth of Elm Creek, and several nieces and nephews in the area. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband William on April 12, 2016, their son Bill Jr., and a sister, Joan Sommers. After their children were raised, Jeanette enjoyed working as a receptionist – bookkeeper at the Riverdale elevator, Agrex Elevator in Elm Creek, and Interstate Structures in Kearney, before becoming the Village Clerk in Elm Creek. In 1991, she and William moved to Kearney, where she was employed at the Kearney Housing Agency for 6 years, was part-time employed at St. James Catholic Church, and part-time Concierge at Prairie View Gardens and Mount Carmel. She also worked for Misko Sports for seven years as a bookkeeper. For many years, prior to moving to Kearney, she was an organist at the Elm Creek Catholic Church, she served on the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery Board and also on the Elm Creek Public School Board of Education. Her hobbies were reading, playing the piano and organ, and working on genealogy and family scrapbooks. Through her different jobs, she met and made many lifelong friends. Her family was very important to Jeanette – she enjoyed their family get-togethers, whether it was a holiday they were celebrating or a birthday for one of them. For over 30 years, Willie and Jeanette farmed; most of that time was spent living on the family farm south of Elm Creek. When they stopped farming, they moved into Elm Creek, and then to Kearney after their son Bill passed away from an accident. In February 2017, due to health problems, she moved to Oberlin, Kansas to live with her youngest daughter Diane and her husband, Steve Zodrow where she was a member of the Sacred Heart parish. Missing her friends, she later chose to move back to Kearney. She was baptized as a Catholic, celebrated her First Communion and Confession, was Confirmed, and married in the Elm Creek Catholic Church. So it is only natural to have her Celebration of Life at the same church. This being her request. “Don’t cry for me, for I have no fear. All my pain is gone, and Jesus took my tears.” She has joyfully been reunited in heaven with William and Bill. On her dresser in her home there is a plaque from John 14 verses 1–3; Let not your heart be troubled; ye who believe in God also believe in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. It was her choice of cremation before inurnment at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Elm Creek, Ne.
