Description	:	Jeanette "Jan" Fahey, age 64, of rural Cavour, SD, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at her home with all of her family at her side. Jeanette Fahey was born Jeanette Joyce Heezen on March 7, 1942, to Louis "Ike" and Florence (Busch) Heezen at Miller, SD. She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated summa cum laude from Miller High School in 1959. Read More	Jeanette "Jan" Fahey, age 64, of rural Cavour, SD, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at her home with all of her family at her side. Jeanette Fahey was born Jeanette Joyce Heezen on March 7, 1942, to Louis "Ike" and Florence (Busch) Heezen at Miller, SD. She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated summa cum laude from Miller High School in 1959. She received a medical scholarship to attend Huron College, which she did for 2 years. Jan then taught for 1 year at Ben Knippling's Country School (Hand County), and 1 year at Rice Country School (Hand County) where she had the opportunity to teach her sister, Nancy, who was a student in Jan's eighth grade class. The many facets of her work history included living and working on her farm south of Cavour; shearing sheep; driving semi; custom combining on farms from Canada to Texas; SCUBA diver team member inspecting the river bottom during the construction of the OAHE Dam; SCUBA diver as a member of the Alabama Tug, Search and Rescue Team; and managed Hurd Alignment and Machine Shop in Huron. On December 31, 1987, Jan married Tom Fahey in Huron, SD, where they lived on a farm south of Cavour. Jan was a very talented lady who achieved success in all of her many endeavors. Jan and Tom were always ready and available to help anyone in time of need. Jan was a talented musician who sang and played guitar, not only for her own enjoyment, but also as a member of several country bands where she was lead singer and guitar player. Her other interests included gardening, canning, knitting, sewing, reading, fishing, playing cards, league bowling, shooting pool, and traveling with Tom to many countries around the world. She is survived by her husband, Tom of rural Cavour; 2 sons, Trent (Michelle) Fahey of Brandon, and Tracy (Pam) Fahey of Houma, LA; 7 grandchildren, Shawn Fahey, Amber Fahey, Keanen Fahey, Alicia Fahey, Brandon Fahey, Bryan Fahey, and Morgan Fahey; 1 great grandchild soon to be born; her mother, Florence Heezen of Cavour; 1 brother, James Heezen of Sioux Falls; and 1 sister, Nancy Johnson of Miller, SD. She was preceded in death by her father, Louis "Ike" Heezen; and 2 nieces, Sondra Johnson Saidi, and Lori Heezen. Burial will be at the G.A.R. Cemetery at Miller, SD.
