Description	:	Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," June 19, 1980: Jeannette Mary Jones, 95, a former Ottumwan, died the morning of June 18 at Calvin Manor, 4210 Hickman Road, Des Moines. She was born Feb. 1, 1885, near Lucas to James F. and Charlotte Kendrick Jones. She came to Ottumwa in 1891 and lived most of her life here. She was a graduate of Ottumwa Commercial College and of Ottumwa Hospital Training School for Nurses. She became a registered nurse in 1918. She kept up her state license until she was 70. Read More	Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," June 19, 1980: Jeannette Mary Jones, 95, a former Ottumwan, died the morning of June 18 at Calvin Manor, 4210 Hickman Road, Des Moines. She was born Feb. 1, 1885, near Lucas to James F. and Charlotte Kendrick Jones. She came to Ottumwa in 1891 and lived most of her life here. She was a graduate of Ottumwa Commercial College and of Ottumwa Hospital Training School for Nurses. She became a registered nurse in 1918. She kept up her state license until she was 70. She as registered in North Carolina as well as in Iowa. She took post-graduate work at Chicago at the Lying-In Hospital and summer school work at the Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. She was appointed by the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and was stationed at Hamadan, Iran. She as there for many years, training the first nursing class that graduated in that part of Iran. On returning from Iran, she was appointed by the National Board of Missions of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., and served in the Great Smokey Mountains at White Rock, N.C., for about six years. She was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church. She was appointed and ordained in 1908 as one of the first deaconesses in the Westminster Church. Later she was named honorary deaconess. After retiring from her work in missions she was also made honorary member of the Board of Foreign Missions. Survivors: nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Harold Gilleney officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery.
