Description	:	Jeanie Badger, daughter of Henry L. and Mary A. Badger, was born October 28, 1865 in Odell, Livingston county , Illinois. At the age of three, she moved with her parents to Nebraska and in October of 1868, settled on the Blue River, north of Fairmont. She attended high school in Fairmont, and later went with her father to pioneer in eastern Colorado. There she was united in marriage on May 5, 1889, to Erwin M. Forbes, and they came to settle on the farm northwest of Fairmont, where they resided for twenty years. To this... Read More	Jeanie Badger, daughter of Henry L. and Mary A. Badger, was born October 28, 1865 in Odell, Livingston county , Illinois. At the age of three, she moved with her parents to Nebraska and in October of 1868, settled on the Blue River, north of Fairmont. She attended high school in Fairmont, and later went with her father to pioneer in eastern Colorado. There she was united in marriage on May 5, 1889, to Erwin M. Forbes, and they came to settle on the farm northwest of Fairmont, where they resided for twenty years. To this union were born six children: Earl, who died in service in the World War; Mrs. Mary F. Crittenden of Beatrice, Nebraska; Mrs. Gail F. Hunter of Santa Ana, California; Dwight W. Forbes of Fairmont, Nebraska; Richard H. Forbes of Boston Massachusetts; and Erwin M. Forbes of Whitewater, California. After returning from the farm, they lived for several years in Oregon and later in California, where Mr. Forbes passed away on August 28, 1930, and from then on, she maintained her home in Fairmont, but spent her winters in California. She was a member of the West Blue Aid Society; the Sunset Club; and the American Legion Auxiliary, of which she was a Gold Star member. Her active, busy life came to a peaceful end in Santa Ana, California, on Easter Sunday morning, March 28, 1937. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her loss, her brother, L.H. Badger of Fairmont, Nebraska, and seven grandchildren. After a brief prayer service at the home, funeral services were held in the Fairmont Methodist church at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 2, 1937, conducted by Rev. J. Henry Stitt of Central City, using the text taken from Psalm 27, verse 6: "I call to remembrance my song in the night." He was assisted by Rev. Robert L. Embree, local pastor. Interment was made in Fairmont cemetery. "Abide with Me" and "The City Four Square" were sung by Mrs. Clyde Rupe and Oliver Moul. Mr. Moul also sang "That Wonderful Mother of Mine." The pallbearers, members of Earl Forbes Post of the American Legion were R.E. Bruce, Charles F. Tous, Harry Perkins, Albert Martin, Harry Murrell and E.M. Rose. Relatives from a distance attending the services were: Mrs. Everett C. Hunter of Santa An, California; Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Forbes of Boston, Massachusetts; Mr. and Mrs. Leon C. Crittenden and children of Beatrice, Nebraska, and Erwin M. Forbes of Whitewater, California.
