Description	:	Jeanne passed away on Saturday in Bellingham. She had lived here since 1972. She was active in Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, the Lake Padden Golf Assoc. and before that, played tennis winning tournaments in high school. She like to sew, knit and read mystery books. Born August 31, 1920, in Newton, Kansas, as Jeanne Wells, she was the second of four girls and is survived by Myra Warczak of Mentone, CA. Most of Jeanne's education was in Alhambra, CA, where she married John Godley in 1939. They had four sons. Robert died in 1964 at the age of 18.... Most of Jeanne's education was in Alhambra, CA, where she married John Godley in 1939. They had four sons. Robert died in 1964 at the age of 18. The three survivors are Dr. Frank Godley of Silver Spring, MD, James Godley of Tokyo and Dr. Thomas Godley of Irvine, CA. Her work outside the home was chiefly as a seamstress, beginning at the Bon March, Seattle, in 1949. She later worked at Victor's in Bellingham and Ransohoff's (San Francisco,) where she fit a Nobel Prize winner's wife for her ceremonial gown. In 1961, she married Wayne Woertendyke and began a seven year stint assisting him in management of a walnut ranch in Anderson, CA. They moved to Bellingham, WA in 1972 and co-owned and operated until 1985 the Handy Mart Grocery Store at Sunset and Illinois Streets. Mrs. Woertendyke spent her last years at the Willows Retirement Apartments in Bellingham. Burial will be at a later date in Anderson, CA.
