Miss Huston had been in ill health since last summer. Last autumn she went to the Allegheny General Hospital, and there underwent an operation for goiter, which was pronounced successful, and later she returned to her home in this place. The surgeons, however, informed her that a second operation at a later date would be necessary. Some two or three weeks ago Miss Huston returned to the hospital for the second operation, which was performed on Wednesday at noon. She came out from under the effects of the anesthetic, and recognized the friends who were with her; but later took a turn for the worse, and at midnight passed away, her death being directly due to heart failure. Miss Huston was the daughter of Alexander H. and Lizzie H. Huston Her father died some years ago. Miss Huston is survived by her mother and one sister, Harriet F., and her cousin Miss Curtis E. Harsha. Miss Huston was a student of Jefferson Academy; afterwards attended for a time the Edenborough State Normal School; and later the Clarion State Normal School, from which she was graduated. After her graduation she taught school for one year in the McNary School, in Chartiers township. The next year she was elected a teacher in the Canonsburg schools, and in these schools she continued to teach for 21 years. Miss Huston as a teacher had an enviable reputation for thoroness, efficiency and conscientiousness. As a teacher she ranked high in the estimation of the patrons, members of the school boards, and the different principals under whom she taught. Last autumn on account of failing health she resigned her position. Miss Huston at an early age made a profession of her faith in Christ, and became a member of the Chartiers United Presbyterian Church, and remained a member of it until her death, For years she was an efficient teacher in the Sabbath school, and she was always interested in the work of the church, and the great cause for which it stands, and she died trusting in her Savior. Miss Huston was also a charter member of the Canonsburg Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was the treasurer of the Chapter from the date of its organization until her death. Funeral services will be held in the Huston home, 311 West Pike street, on Saturday at 2 p. m. The burial will be in the Oak Spring cemetery.
