The funeral service was conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Weddington Methodist church by Rev. R. E. Hinshaw, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Kennedy. [end of death notice] It is believed that Mr. Hemby's death certificate may have the wrong date of death (Nov. 10) as well as the incorrect date of burial (Nov. 20). (his death certificate is easily found at familysearch.org) The death notice in the paper having his service "this afternoon" and published on Nov. 21 would indicate that the funeral (burial) was on the 21st. Furthermore, Nov. 10 is a Sunday and the newspaper has indicated that he died on Wednesday. Since the death certificate is considered a legal document, the date of death will remain on this memorial as Nov. 10. However, we wanted to share information from the newspaper so that other researchers would have it available for study and speculation. -Union County Public Library
