Description	:	Jeffrey D. Faber, 63, of Le Mars, Iowa died unexpectedly at home, Sunday, April 26, 2015 after a lifelong battle with congenital heart disease. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Le Mars United Methodist Church with Reverend John Battern officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service all at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jon Goodin, Dr. Tom Faber, Mike Motemaden, Andy McDonald, Bill Scheitler, and Tom Ryan, Jeff was born June 19, 1952, at Rock Valley to Dr. Kenneth and Margaret (Lockridge) Faber, the eldest of four children. He graduated from Ogden (Iowa) High School in 1970 and from Westmar College in Le Mars in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1978. Jeff was united in marriage to Kathy Starzl on July 2, 1977, in Le Mars. The couple lived for one year in Iowa City while Jeff completed his pharmacy degree, then moved to Le Mars where he began his professional career at Mount Drug Co. Over the next several years he also worked at Gerdes Pharmacy and Hopkins Drug in Le Mars as well as Schalekamp Drug in Sioux Center. He began a 25-year career at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City in 1982 where he worked as a staff pharmacist and later as manager of the hospital’s off-site infusion pharmacy. Jeff then worked for five years at Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Le Mars and was employed at Le Mars Family Pharmacy at the time of his death. Jeff was a member of the Le Mars United Methodist Church where he was active in choir and served as choir director at First United Methodist Church. He also served the church on various committees and for special projects. He was a member of the Gideons and enjoyed many years’ involvement with the Le Mars Community Theater, both on-stage and helping performers in several productions in the make-up room. Jeff’s favorite pastime was music. His strong bass voice was part of the Westmar Quartet and Westmar Chorale, and later the Plymouth County Singers along with Community Theater and church. He sang for many funerals at churches throughout the county. A performance highlight for him was sharing the stage for the community theater production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” with his daughter, Emily, and his wife. Jeff, Kathy, Emily and in recent years, Emily’s husband, Jon, enjoyed many adventures together, including meeting Roy Rogers on a trip to California and trips to Disney in Florida, Hawaii and a Caribbean cruise. As an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, Jeff said he “bled black and gold “win or lose.” Jeff’s faith, compassion, generous spirit, sense of humor and ready smile will be especially missed. Grateful to have shared Jeff’s life are his wife of 37 years, Kathy, of Le Mars; a daughter, Emily, and her husband, Jon Goodin, of Edmond, OK; two sisters and their husbands, Jane and Mike Motemaden of Germantown, MD, Katherine and Andy McDonald of Altoona, and a brother, Dr. Thomas Faber of Seattle, WA; uncle and aunt, Dr. Wayne and Ruth Marie Faber of Le Mars; one nephew, David Motemaden of London, England; one niece, Lila Motemaden of New York City, NY; five cousins, Jay Faber, Heidi Faber, Maggie Schnepf, Liz Waldal, and Katie Lee; many friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Phyllis Faber; one uncle, Dr. Donald Faber; his mother and father-in-law, Rita and Roman Starzl, and a cousin, Anna Faber.
