Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier, with Pastor Joel Gueningsman officiating. Jenita Marie was born March 23, 1936 in Soldier, the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Thoreson) Nordaker. She grew up on a farm near Soldier and attended Soldier High School. Jenita and Gale Grant were united in marriage on June 6, 1953 in Onawa. To this union five children were born, Randy, Rhonda, Marcia, Mark, and Leann. She served as the Soldier post master for many years, where she later retired. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, canning, lefse baking, her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Soldier Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid. Jenita is survived by five children, Randy Grant of Soldier, IA, Rhonda (David) Johnson of Blytheville, AR, Marcia (Matt) Jacobs of Omaha, NE, Mark (Kathy) Grant of Arion, IA, and Leann (fiancé Steve Allen) Ohlmeier of Soldier, IA; eleven grandchildren, Christopher (Susan) Johnson, Cortny (Nicole) Johnson, Robin (Chuck) Salfrank, Sarah Jacobs, Meagan (Derrick) Mills, Matthew Jacobs II, Jason Grant, Jennifer (fiancé Cory Call) Grant, Andrea Ohlmeier, Joshua (Sarah) Ohlmeier, and Desirée (Alyssa) Snell; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ruth Nordaker; her husband, Gale Grant on June 26, 2015; and an infant sister, LeeAnn Nordaker.
