Sad Affliction – A sudden sharp stroke of affliction has visited the family of O.H.P. Baxter, in the death of a little daughter, a wee fairy sprite, only four years of age, whose eyes shone like diamonds, whose laughter was soft music, and who was at once the pride, the joy, the sunlight of the family circle. On Saturday last, the little one was prostrated with a violent attack of brain fever, and although all was done that kindness or skill could suggest, nothing checked the progress of the insidious disease, and yesterday afternoon with a gasp and flutter, the sands of the young life which seemed to be nursing a bud of the richest promise, ran out, to meet again in that happier place, where sickness, pain and death have no further terrors, and where the promises of Him are redeemed, who spoke: "I am the Resurrection and the Life." We sincerely sympathize with the parents in the great loss they have sustained, and trust that the cup of bitterness now pressed to their lips, will only serve to remind them that their darling has merely been transplanted to the fairer regions – there to watch and wait for their coming.
