Read More	Claimed by Death Jennie Ryan, wife of Will J. Ryan, at her home in this city, on Thursday evening last, of heart failure, aged 34 years, 1 month, and 1 day. As the news of Mrs. Ryan's death spread over this city Friday morning it carried with it a gloom of darkness and bitter sorrow. All death is sad but this is an example that seems doubly so in that it not only removes a noble woman and a pure life from our midst but because also of the peculiar conditions under which she was so suddenly called by the grim reaper, and in which her dead body was found by the husband who had not the remotest idea of facing such a crisis. Mr. Ryan had gone down town to attend a meeting of the Masonic lodge, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ozburn had called to spend the evening. Mrs. Ryan was in her usual happy mood, entertaining her visitors, and in apparent good health. The good lady had repaired to the kitchen to prepare some refreshments at about 10 o'clock and while she was absent, her daughter, Miss Dorcey, was entertaining the company with selections on the piano, she played her mother's favorite piece before she had done. At about this time Mr. Ryan returned from town, and not seeing his wife in the parlor, inquired where she was and then went into the kitchen, thinking to assist her. Not finding her there he went into the bedroom and from there started to go out of the back door when he almost stepped upon his wife's body, lying across the porch with her feet upon the threshold. He called to Mr. Ozburn for assistance but as the piano was playing he did not hear and Mr. Ryan succeeded alone in carrying her into the home. Every effort was then made to revive her a doctor summoned and the relatives notified. All efforts proved futile and the physician gave it as his opinion that she was beyond medical aid before she fell. Mrs. Ryan was a woman of amiable disposition, with an ever cheerful smile, and was always ready to aid in charitable work. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, for which she was an ardent worker, and belonged to the Degree of Honor and Women of Woodcraft lodges, in which organizations she was active and had filled the principal offices. She is survived by the husband, to whom she was a devoted wife, and three children - Dorcey, George and Marie -to whom she was a fond and loving parent; also her mother, Mrs. W. T. Decker, and her brother, Monroe Decker. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. G. Blake, at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Sunday and the service was very impressive, the songs sung by the choir being favorites of the deceased. The large turnout to the funeral manifested the esteem in which she was held by all. The remains were conveyed to the Silver Cliff cemetery where the interment took place.
