(Chapman) Moorehead passed away on the morning of Friday, Feb. 15, 1924, in Ida Grove, Iowa. The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Goodrich Monday afternoon, Feb. 18, 1924, in charge of Rev. James J. Davies. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida County, Iowa. Jennie was the daughter of James and Hester Chapman, and was born at Hillsboro, Ohio, on Feb. 11, 1847, and reached the age of 77 years and 7 days. In 1857, she came west and later lived at Keokuk, Iowa. While residing there, she was married to Hammond A. Moorehead on May 10, 1877, and soon afterwards came to Ida Grove to make her future home. They have lived here ever since, with the exception of years in the south between 1887 and 1896. Three children were born into the family, John who died in 1907, Ed Moorehead and Anna Goodrich, Ida Grove. Mrs. Moorehead, while a girl of 15 years, united with the Methodist Church, and throughout her life was a devout and active member. She gave a large place in her life to religion and consistently adhered to the practices of the church until the recent years of infirmity and sickness came to her. For years she taught a Sunday School Class and manifested a great deal of interest in the temperance cause, and was a member of the WCTU. She was a devoted wife and tender mother. She leaves her husband, 2 children and 9 grandchildren. She has one brother, Newton Chapman, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and two sisters, Marie Chapman and Mrs. Giles C.
