Description	:	Jennie Bulger was born in Minto, North Dakota April 19, 1888. Her baptisimal name was Jane Bulger, however she alway used the name Jennie. She married Michael Joseph Darcy in Stephen, Marshall Co. MN, on Jan 11, 1910. They lived on a farm near Davis, Minnesota, 10 or 12 miles north of Stephen. They moved to... Read More	Jennie Bulger was born in Minto, North Dakota April 19, 1888. Her baptisimal name was Jane Bulger, however she alway used the name Jennie. She married Michael Joseph Darcy in Stephen, Marshall Co. MN, on Jan 11, 1910. They lived on a farm near Davis, Minnesota, 10 or 12 miles north of Stephen. They had four children Gladys Mary, Mary Catherine, Thomas Patrick, and Alfred William in Stephen, MN. They moved to Creighton, NE in late 1920 and lived there for about 2 or 3 months. They moved to Bonesteel, Gregory Co., SD before 1923, where two more children were born - Lucille Alice and John Edward Darcy. They moved to Tyndall in 1946. Their daughter Lucille Darcy graduated from Bonesteel high School in 1943 and son John Edward Darcy graduated in 1944. Michael Joseph had a stroke on January 23, 1950 and they retired from farming. She moved to Yankton, SD in 1952 after John Edward was discharged from the USMC after serving in Korea to be nearer Grandpa, who was in Sacred Heart Hospital. She lived at 920 1/2 East Forth Street. While living in Yankton, SD, she lived on the edge of town, grandma was able to keep chickens and had a chicken coop in her back yard. While living on the farm grandma had raised turkies, ducks, geese as well as chickens. While in Yankton grandma did have chickens, and I'm sure she used the eggs but she raised Bantum (Banty) chickens (small brightly color chickens) I think she just like having them around. She also raised ducks. She fed the baby ducks bread soaked in milk. She lived fairly near the Missouri River, which did flood. In 1952, Gavins Point Dam was completed and flooding was controlled. John Edward 1952. So he was able to help Grandma after that. Grandma tried taking care of Grandpa at home for a year or Darcy, Uncle John, was discharged from the USMC in Jan so. She was unable to continue and Grandpa was admitted to the Sacred Heart Hospital. Grandma went to visit grandpa everyday (unless she didn't have a ride) at Sacred Heart Hospital. She always took something for him, I remember she took bananas quite often. Grandma had a couple of bird cages. She had both parakeets and canaries. She used to have cranberry sauce in her refrigerator. She used it instead of jelly on her toast. My only experience with an Irish Wake happened at grandma's house, I don't remember who had died but there were lots of people at the house. Jennie (Jane) Bulger Darcy died June 19,1963 from congenital heart failure.. She is buried in Yankton, SD with Michael Joseph Darcy, they are buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery with their son John Edward Darcy. Her six children were all living at the time of her death. At the time of her death she had 33 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Brazil (Anna Loretta Bulger) of Minneapolis, MN and Mrs. Nellie (Ellen Mary Bulger) Charlton of William, MN and two brothers James Bulger of Grand Forks, ND and John Jack Bulger.
