Jennie was born in Union Square, NS, on June 29, 1911 to the late James and Elizabeth Fancy. She grew up on the family farm and had many fond memories of that early life. She was 104 years at her passing and saw and spoke of the many changes that have occurred over that time. Alert and on the ball up to the last few days of her life, she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Jennie was married to Percy R. Hupman, a school teacher in New Germany. They had two sons, Linwood and Brian. She was a devoted wife and mother wanting her boys to be the best that they could be. After the boys were a little older, she worked as a telephone operator – "Number Please" for MT&T followed by a year or two with Suttles & Seawinds. Jennie was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, the Anglican Church Ladies Guild and a lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her son Brian of Nappan where she resided during the winter months for the past eight years and her daughter-in-law Shirley of Fredericton. Jennie dearly loved her grandchildren Lisa Hupman (Andrew Foreman), Saint John, Adrienne (Paul) Murchison, Whitehorse and Jonathan (Krista) Hupman, Auckland, NZ. She cherished and loved her great grandchildren Malcolm, Ewan and Cormac and beamed whenever they were spoken of. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Percy, of 69 years in 2003 and her son Linwood in 2013. Jennie was the last of her immediate family having been predeceased by sisters Hazel Fancy, Grace (Freeman) Ernst, Vera (Ray) Demond and Lillis Fancy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home (902-667-8777) Amherst, NS. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held in New Germany at St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church on a later date. Jennie’s family would like to thank the staff at the CRHCC, the Home Care ladies and all her friends and family (especially Peggy Carver and Nadine Wentzell) for all their visits and calls.
