Read More	A little about Jennie Uglow Wentz from Cloud County History 1992 - Jennie Uglow was the third child born to John W. and Sarah L. (Stetson) Uglow. Her father was born in England, came first to Wisconsin and served in the Civil War, Co.H 49th Wisconsin Volunteers. Her mother, Sarah, was of the Stetson Hat family. Her parents married in Jefferson, Wisconsin, in 1868 and in 1872 headed west until they settled in the Republican River valley. Her parents home was known as a Halfway House in the early days and was a place where all the overland travelers stopped and where area farmers picked up their mail. Jennie married Merton Wentz on October 17, 1900, on her parents farm. They had six children: Wilma, Bernice, Frances, Fern, Hilary and Carol. Jennie and Merton developed a love of reading and learning in their children and always provided good reading material. They lived on the farm until 1954 when they moved to Concordia and celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary before Merton's death in 1958. Jennie died five years later at the home of her daughter, Frances Miller, in Portland, Oregon.
