Mrs Jennie McAlpin, 79, widow of the late Earl H. McAlpin, died suddenly Friday afternoon while waiting to see the doctor. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs Max McAlpin, had brought her from her home near New Market for her appointment. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Lavanchie Gaddis Pershing, and was born near Guss. For many years she has lived northeast of New Market, and since the death of her husband in 1964, she has continued to live in her home there. She is survived by four children, William McAlpin, Red Oak, Max McAlpin, New Market, Donald Rogers, Seattle, Wash, and Mrs D.E. (Orena) Taylor, Clarinda. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs Oliver (Estella) Goldsmith, Seattle, Wash, a brother, Clyde Pershing, Villisca, 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services were conducted this Monday afternoon from the Walker Funeral Home with Rev George White of the New Market United Methodist Church in charge. Soloist was Mrs Mary Brummett, and organist was Mrs Grace Perry. Mrs Lyle Harris and Mrs Earnest Glassgow cared for the flowers. Casketbearers were Earnie Glassgow, Lyle Harris, Frank Vestal, Harvey Young, Eugene Bailie and Dale Combs. Burial was at the side of her husband in Memory Cemetery at New Market.
