Read More	Jennie Pearl Raper Adair County Free Press January 3, 1962 Jennie Pearl Raper, daughter of James and Sarah Jane Dwigans was born in Adair County, north of Greenfield, Iowa, on February 15, 1872, and departed this life at the home of her daughter Cleo on Christmas day, December 25th, 1961, at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 10 days. On November 22, 1888, Jennie was united in marriage with Frank Raper, and to this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Cleo Walters, and two sons, Claude A. and Dr. Carlton L. In the early years of their married life, Mrs. and Mrs. Raper gave the ground for the Friends Church at Canby, and the first congregation was organized in their home. All through her life she has been an active supporter of those organizations within the community which she considered were working for the uplift of mankind. After the Rapers had moved to Casey, she brought her membership to the Methodist Church in 1903 under the ministry of Rev. Miller. She was a member of the Loyalty class, and the Deborah Circle of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church of Casey. She was past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 343, and Past Nobel Grand of Oak Leaf Lodge 580 of the Rebekahs of Casey. Her interest to the last was her family, her community and her nation. Just how deep that interest was, is proved by her scrapbooks carefully kept through the years, presenting an unbroken history of Casey and its Neighborhood. Her alert mind carried her afar in her reading; politics, national and world welfare being always of great concern to her. The many young people who were her friends testify to her great interest in Youth, maintained to the last. Her intense love for her family was often expressed by telephone calls to each home to learn if all was well with her loved ones, before she slept at night. Her keen mind made her a very capable businesswoman, and she managed her own business affairs to the last. On Christmas Day with her family about her, she folded her hands over tasks well done and quietly slipped from the family circle to join those who preceded her in death; her parents, seven sisters, and three brothers, her husband, and her son Claude A. She is survived by one brother, J. Rollie Dwigans of Orient, Iowa, two children, a daughter, Cleo E. (Mrs. Glenn Walters) and a son, Dr. Carlton L. both of Casey; two granddaughters, Mrs. Wynnette Daily of Casey, and Mrs. Sadie Goodwin of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Holly Daily of Casey; two daughters-in-law Mrs. Bertha Raper, and Mrs. Ruby Raper and a son-in-law, Glenn Walters, all of Casey, Iowa, as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services were held in the Casey Methodist Church, December 28, 1961, with Rev. W.W. Watson, the pastor officiating. Interment was made in the Canby cemetery. Mrs. Harold Griffith sang "The Stranger of Galilee" and a mixed quartet, Mrs. Harold Griffith, Mrs. Carl Kirkpatrick, Earl Bassett and W.W. Watson sang "That Beautiful Land" accompanied by Mrs. Collis Smith. The flower bearers were Mrs. J.R. Kriens, Mrs. Mart Mowry and Mrs. Robert Larson. The pallbearers were Mart Mowry, Dean Mowry, Dr. J.R. Kriens, C.E. Walters, George Speedling, and Floyd McGinnis.
