June 13, 1946 Obituary Jennie Strauser Walters Jennie Strauser was born in Cedar county Nov. 10, 1858, one of two children of Jared and Catherine Mowry Strauser. Her brother John died in April, 1942. June 13, 1946 Obituary Jennie Strauser Walters Jennie Strauser was born in Cedar county Nov. 10, 1858, one of two children of Jared and Catherine Mowry Strauser. Her brother John died in April, 1942. She lived her entire life in Cedar county except for the few years she taught in Adair county. March 17, 1887, while living in Greenfield, she was united in marriage to Frank Walters. One child, Mayme, was born to this marriage. Mrs. Walters was a member of the West Bethel Methodist church and since 1903 was affiliated with the Presbyterian church of Tipton serving as Sunday school teacher for a great many years in that church. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, and the Order of Eastern Star. She passed on after a long illness at her home in Tipton June 5, 1946, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 26 days. She is survived by her daughter, Mayme; three half sisters, one half brother, and one step-sister; several nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Her husband preceded her in death in 1927. Funeral services were held at the McCormick funeral home in Tipton. The Rev. Stanley Schlick delivered the sermon, the Rebekahs conducted their services and Laura Geller, at the piano, played a number of beautiful selections including "Beautiful Isle of Some Where," a favorite of the deceased. Pallbearers were Grant White, Ora Mayes, Fay Wagner, Buell Maxwell, Henry Walters and Fred Eiler. The committal was in the Masonic cemetery. Contributor: daisy (48425018) •
