On Monday morning she was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage and never regained consciousness. All that loving hands and care could do for her were of no avail and her strength weakened and she passed away at 6:00 a. m., as her children and husband were at her bedside. Jennie Tracy Koch was born on August 8, 1876, at Rochester, N. Y. She came with her parents to Dakota and lived near Aberdeen and Hecla. She was united in marriage with Conelius Van Riper on October 2, 1902, and they resided near Groton for 43 years before moving to Aberdeen four years ago. Among her immediate survivors are her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Walter Nack, Groton; Mrs. Walter Leise, Belle Plain, Minn.; Mrs. Mildred Ulrich, Mrs. John Hoffer and Mrs. George Daschel, all of Aberdeen; two sons, Floyd of Warner, and Cornelius, Jr., on the home farm near Groton. One brother, Ernest Koch of Hecla; two sister, Mrs. Frank Van Riper, Groton and Mrs. Andrew Armour, Sr., of Hecla; eight grandchildren and numerous other relatives also survive. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. Paul Conine, at the Presbyterian church in Aberdeen, Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. A quartet consisting of Mrs. Richard Kohl, Mrs. Frank Wyttenbach, Giles Anderson and Eddie Olson sang two selections. Mrs. John Evens was organist. The beautiful bouquets of flowers which banked the altar, paid tribute to the highly esteemed deceased. Mrs. Ban Riper was a devoted and affectionate wife and mother, and her loss will be keenly felt by the family and a host of friends who mourn her passing. Honorary pallbearers were: Charles E. Adams, C. A. Draeger, G. I. Hargrow, Palmer G. Peterson, Frank Voelz and J. J. Warkentin, while active pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased, were: Andrew Armour, Jr., Willard Koch, Gilbert Karlen Harold Koch, Elwin Van Riper and Charles Frisbie. Interment was in the family lot at Groton Union cemetery. Relatives from away attending the last rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sterrett and daughter of Brookings; Mrs. Fred Menninga and daughter of St. Cloud, Minn., and Walter Leise, ofBelle Plaine, Minn.
