Description	:	Jens Jacobsen was born on 16 Dec 1865 the thirteen of fourteen children born to Jacob Christensen Kjær and Karen Marie Madsdatter. He was baptized on 17 Dec at Harring Sogn, Hassing Herred, Thisted Amt, Denmark. On 10 Jun 1882 Ticket Contract # 506400 was issued for Jens Kjær (son), age 12, to travel from Stagstrup, Thisted, Denmark to Kearney, Nebraska. His father, Jacob Christensen Kjær, also traveled to Kearney at this time. On 21 Dec 1888 a "Declaration of Intention" to become a citizen was filed by some one with his name (unknown if it... His father, Jacob Christensen Kjær, also traveled to Kearney at this time. On 21 Dec 1888 a "Declaration of Intention" to become a citizen was filed by some one with his name (unknown if it is our Jens Jacobsen) in Denver, Colorado On 7 Jul 1891 he filed "Homestead Proof -- Testimony of Claimant" paperwork with Clerk of District Court re. disposition of his fathers homestead claim. He is listed as Jens Jacobsen, 25 yrs, living in Mason City, Neb. On 15 May 1903 the District Court in the Territory of Oklahoma, Dewey County, admitted a Jens Jacobsen to become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES (again, unknown if this is our Jens Jacobsen). During the 1930 US Federal Census he is listed as "Jacobsen, J J", Uncle, living in the household of his nephew, Ole Olsen, in Roosevelt County, Montana. In the diaries of Mrs. Ole (Anna) Olsen she has various entries for Uncle Jim: ● 1921: 7 Mar "Uncle Jim arrived from Omaha." ● 1922: 4 Sep "Uncle Jim arrived." ● 1922: 16 Oct "Uncle Jim hauling wheat." ● 1922: 16 Dec "Lots of company. Celebrated Uncle Jim's birthday." ● 1923: 8 Mar "Ole, Uncle Jim, Arden & I at McCabe. Uncle Jim 'listened in' on radio." The diary entry combined with other family history seems to support that Uncle Jim was deaf. ● 1923: 23 May "Uncle Jim sheared a sheep." ● 1923: 30 May "Uncle Jim left for Omaha." ● 1924: 5 Sep "Uncle Jim arrived from Omaha. Ella and I took him out to Ole." ● 1924: 1 Nov "Carl and Uncle Jim thru threshing." ● 1924: 23 Dec "Uncle Jim left for Omaha." ● 1928: 4 Oct "Carl took Uncle Jim to Sidney he got a job there. ● 1930: Arrived 1 Feb and left 25 Jun (went to Bainville to work for J. Johnson). Of note is that our Jens Jacobsen was deaf. The 1940 US Federal Census lists a Jacobsen, James living in Minden, Nebraska. In the Jan 1942 obituary of his sister, Sena Olsen, it states: "sister of Jens Jacobsen of Minden, Nebraska". The Fredericksburg Cemetery index lists: Jacobsen, Jim - by PC & C Petersen - no birth or death dates - plot G 15. - Carrie Jacobsen Petersen is Jens' niece, the daughter of his brother, Christen Kjær Jacobsen. She and her husband lived in the greater Minden area.
