Description	:	Jens Jensen was born June 16th, 1847, at Alborg, Denmark, and died at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, August 30th, 1927, at the ripe old age of 80 years, 2 months and 17 days. Read More	Jens Jensen was born June 16th, 1847, at Alborg, Denmark, and died at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, August 30th, 1927, at the ripe old age of 80 years, 2 months and 17 days. In 1868 at the age of 21 years he emigrated to America and settled at Sheffield, Penn. In 1870 at Sheffield he was married to Christiana (sic) Olson. Four years later they moved to Shelby county (sic), Iowa, where they resided eleven years on the farm, and then moved to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, arriving here on February 28, 1886. After twenty years on the farm, they moved to Nelson where they have resided until they were called to their heavenly home. His wife preceded him on June 10, 1924. To this home were born five sons and one daughter. One son, William, preceded his parents in death. Those left behind to mourn the loss of a good father, are: C.E. Jensen, Nelson; Edward Jensen, Los Angeles, Calif.; Albert Jensen, Nelson; Olaf Jensen, Hastings; Mrs. Anna Telena Laird, Holstein. One brother, George, is living in Everette, Washington, and one sister Mrs. Mary Larson, Hendley, Neb. There are also five grand children. Mr. Jensen was raised in the strictest way of the Lutheran faith in the old country and on coming to this country was not unfaithful to his church, but united with the Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, Iowa. On coming to Nelson he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church. Although he had lived a long life and had seen much of this world with its joys and its sorrows, yet he held true to the faith of his youth. In the community he was an honest, energetic and upright citizen. As a friend he was true and loyal. The last few years were declining years and he was frequently found by his son dipping into his Danish Bible, where God talked to him, and where he received much joy in the promises. These precious promises were the anchor of his soul. "Steadfast and sure while the billows roll." Although he was out of the scenes of active life yet he will be sadly missed by his large circle of friends as well as his loved ones. Folded the hands that have faithfully labored, Gone are the heart-aches, the waiting is ended, Closed are the eyes that were loving and tender, Hushed are the throbbings of that faithful heart; Anxious to live yet patient in suffering, Cheerful though billows would over him roll, Happy today he has heard the sweet summons; "Enter thy haven, O tempest-tossed soul."
