Jens Peter Jensen was born October 28, 1861 in Oster Kippenge, Denmark and at death was 78 years, five months and six days old. Coming to this county as a young man of 18, Mr. Jensen temporarily located in Chicago, then came west to Nebraska and settled at Fremont. It was at Fremont on September 3, 1890 that he was united in marriage to Karen Christina Olsen. In 1898 the family came to Knox county, locating on a farm north of Bazile Mills. Two years later, in 1900, Mr. Jensen bought a farm southeast of Creighton and for 17 years this was the family home. Retiring from the farm in 1917, Mr. Jensen purchased a home in Creighton and spent the remainder of his life here. In 1936 his wife preceded him in death. A son, Hans and a daughter, Marie, also preceded him in death. Left to mourn his passing are three sons, Bernhart and Olaf, at home; William, south of Creighton and two daughters, Mrs. Henry Collen, west of Creighton and Mrs. Dagmar Hansen of near Brunswick; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a host of friends. In his native country, Mr. Jensen was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church. Industrious and unassuming, Mr. Jensen was also possessed of other admirable qualities and to those among whom he lived he was a good neighbor and loyal friend, to his family he was a devoted husband and father.
