(no information) DONOVAN – At his home in Geneva, Tuesday October 24, 1894,, Jere Donovan, aged 33 years, 10 months and 3 days. The deceased was a victim of a six weeks attack of typhoid fever. It was thought by his physician and friends that all danger had passed and that it was merely a question of time until he gained sufficient strength to be out. Tuesday morning he told his physician that he was feeling much better an was much encouraged over his prospects for a speedy recovery but shortly after these remarks his heart failed to act and he quietly passed away. Mr. Donovan was appointed postmaster at this place about a year ago last August by President Cleveland and filled the responsible position to the entire satisfaction of its patrons until the time of his sickness. He was a great big hearted, jovial fellow and had scores of friends in this vicinity. Up to the time of taking his office he was a prominent politician but afterwards gave his entire time to the duties of his position which he filled so satisfactorily. Mr. Donovan was born at Princeton, Bureau county, Illinois, moving with his parents to Fillmore county fifteen years ago during which time he was engaged in school teaching and as a salesman in Solomn & Nathan's store until his appointment as postmaster. The deceased leaves a wife and two small children to mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving father. The funeral services will be held in the lodge room of Fraternity Temple building Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias of which the deceased was an active member. ALSO: The late Jere Donovan was a member of the Knights of Pythias and he carried an insurance policy for $1,000 in the insurance branch of that order. He was also a member of the A. O. U. W. and M. W. A. orders and he carried a $2,000 policy in each of those orders, making his total insurance $5,000. Mr. Donovan was a prudent man and his friends will be glad to know that his family is thus well provided for. (The Friday Journal 26 OCT 1894 pg 5) Calculated DOB is December 21st, 1860
