Read More	Obituary Yankton: Jerome Dangel TURKEY RIDGE -- Jerome "Jerry Art" Dangel, 63, Turkey Ridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at his home of a heart attack. Funeral mass is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface (Idylwilde) Catholic Church, Turkey Ridge, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. today (Friday) at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. There will be a scripture service and rosary at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the church. He was born March 1, 1937, on the family farm near Freeman to Frank and Lena (Goettertz) Dangel. He attended District No. 27 and No. 47 country school near Freeman and graduated from Freeman High School in 1956. In high school, he began playing with the Moonshiners Dance Band and joined the Musicians Union. He was a member of both for more than 30 years as a drummer. He married Loretta Hiller March 4, 1957, at Colman. They farmed in the Turkey Ridge area for 29 years before moving to Gilbert, Ariz. While in Arizona, he worked as a mechanic for Sunland Village Golf Course. In 1997, they moved back to Turkey Ridge. He worked as the Turner County Weed Board Supervisor and also for the Turkey Ridge Ag Service. He was a member of St. Boniface (Idylwilde) Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Loretta, Turkey Ridge; a son, Duane, Harrisburg; three daughters: Nancy Plienis, Sioux Falls; LeAnn Bogner, Chandler, Ariz.; and JoEllen Walz, Freeman; four grandchildren; and two sisters: Jeanette Schramm, Yankton, and Maureen Birgen, Beresford.
