He passed away at his home in Fairmont, Nebraska, at 4:55 o'clock, Monday evening, August 5, 1929, at the age of seventy-five years, four months and nine days. Mr. Stephenson came to Nebraska with his parents in the year 1858, locating near Falls City, Nebraska. After a number of years residence here, he removed to Lancaster county, where he lived for sixteen years, coming from Lancaster to Fillmore county in the year 1900. Mr. Stephenson was united in marriage to Henrietta Campbell at Falls City, Nebraska, on September 5, 1880. To this union were born three children, Zadock C., David Wells and Emma Henrietta, now Mrs. Jesse Schroeder, all of Fairmont. Besides the wife and three children, there are the following grandchildren, who mourn his departure: Leslie, Darlene, Robert, Jean and John children of Mr. and Mrs. Z.C. Stephenson; Harry Wells, son of Mr. and Mrs. David W. Stephenson; and Ester Henrietta, John Blaine and Emma Ethale, children of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Schroder. Mr. Stephenson came from a large family and is the fourth of four brothers who have passed away within about a year. The funeral services for one of them were held from this church only a week ago last Sunday. Two sisters survive him: Mrs. Lois Friend of Montana and Mrs. Candace Robinson of Lincoln. Mr. Stephenson was a men interested in the church and religion. He joined the church at Falls City when twenty-six years of age and transferred his membership to this church June 23, 1901, of which he was a member at the time of his death. He was a man interested in the affairs of his community. In turn, he was respected and trusted. He was twice elected to the County Board of Supervisors, and at one time was a member of the school board of District No. 19. He was an esteemed member of the Woodman lodge, having belonged to this order for about thirty-nine years. Mr. Stephenson had been in failing health for some time, and endured a great deal of suffering, but he bore it all bravely and well, being fortified in his faith in Christ, he bore testimony to the fact that when God should be pleased to call him, he was ready to go. Funeral services were held from Fairmont Methodist Episcopal church, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. C.H. Lind, officiating. Interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery, where the service was conducted according to the ritual of the Modern Woodmen of America. Relatives and friends in attendance from other points were: Mrs. Candace Robinson, Lincoln; Mrs. Belle Stephenson, Raymond; Mr. and Mrs. Al Joy, Oxford; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Bykerk, Havelock; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wise, Chivington, Colorado; Mrs. Lonnie Johnson, Los Angeles, California; R.A.
