Woods was born October 7, 1855, at Pennington Point, McDonough County, Illinois, where he grew to manhood.On January 31, 1878, he was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Bell Jones and soon after they came to Clay County, Nebraska, where they have since made their home. To this union were born, six sons, Harry N. died in infancy. Those living are: Clara H. McLey, Zeb Jr., Taylor D., of Fairfield, Brosia R. Pywell of Cambridge, Nebraska, Martha J. Besides these there are twenty grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two sisters, Mrs. Jane Pontious of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Ambrosia Hyett, of Los Angeles, California, and four brothers; L.M. of Milan, MO., Dr. Royal of Lincoln, M.H. of Fairfield, and Dr. G. R. of Campbell, Nebraska. On Wednesday morning he was taken suddenly ill and in a very short while he had passed on to the other world to be with father, mother, sister and others gone before. His age at his going was 71 years, 1 month, and 10 days. He had lived the allotted time for man and his living has not been in vain. He was a devoted husband, a kind father, a loving brother and a true friend. He will be missed by his many relatives and friends. In the year 1909 he united with the Methodist Church in Fairfield and has kept the faith and been a follower of Jesus Christ since that time. He loved him,Yes, we loved him,But the angels loved him more.Though some day we hope to meet him,On that bright, celestial shore. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. G.A. Hobson and the body laid to rest in Fairfield Cemetery.
