Description	:	OBITUARY: Jerome Carpenter- Jerome Carpenter, pioneer of the Cedar Point community was killed Thursday afternoon, July 24, near his home near Fredonia. A team of horses ran away, throwing Mr. Carpenter and injuring his head. He died before he could be taken to a hospital. Read More	OBITUARY: Jerome Carpenter- Jerome Carpenter, pioneer of the Cedar Point community was killed Thursday afternoon, July 24, near his home near Fredonia. A team of horses ran away, throwing Mr. Carpenter and injuring his head. He died before he could be taken to a hospital. Jerome Carpenter was born in Illinois and came to Kansas when about twelve years of age. He lived first in Marion County and later moved to Chase County. He lived the greater part of his life in and near Cedar Point, until the last three years when he was at Fredonia, Kansas. He was married to Carolina Uppenkamp on August 5, 1890. After many happy years together, Mrs. Carpenter preceded him in death on February 9, 1932. To this union were born Anna Lalouette, Florence, Kansas; Joe Carpenter, Ponca City, Oklahoma; and Gus Carpenter, Cedar Point, Kansas. A brother a a sister also remain to mourn his loss: A. A. Carpenter of Piedmont, Kansas; and Mrs. J. V. Swan of Jacksboro, Texas. There are also 15 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who cherish his memory. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the high school auditorium at Cedar Point. Clyde Cunningham, William R. Ice, Frank Heckendorn, Hugh Pinkston and Mason Fetrow were singers, accompanied by Mrs. W. R. Ice. Burial was in the Cedar Point cemetery.
