Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monticello, where military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 8 p.m. He was born on March 28, 1931, in Earlville, son of Clem and Marie (Vaske) Wulfekuhle. He received his education at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Petersburg. Jerome went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War. He married Alice Burkle on Feb, 14, 1955, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Dyersville. Together they farmed near Masonville and Worthington before moving to a farm east of Sand Springs in 1962. In November 2006, they retired and moved to Monticello. Jerome loved farming and took great pride in raising crops and caring for the soil. He owned farms in both Delaware and Buchanan counties and received soil conservation awards in each county. He raised hogs for many years, held office with the Delaware County Pork Producers and was presented the Delaware County Master Pork Producer Award in 1978. In earlier years, he held office positions as an active member of the Delaware County National Farmers Organization. He also served as a South Fork Township Trustee for many years. He was actively involved in the Catholic Church at Immaculate Conception, Sand Springs, and Sacred Heart, Monticello. He will always be remembered for his strong faith and his involvement in the Knights of Columbus and National Right to Life Council. Jerome's favorite pastime was watching baseball, especially the Cardinals, keeping up with the team statistics, along with discussing politics. Surviving are his wife, Alice; two daughters, Janet (Gary) Baker, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Nancy (Jim) Baumann, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; two sons, Alan (Kathy), of Masonville, and Gary (Kelli), of Ankeny; 11 grandchildren, Amy and Michael Loeschen, Maria, Christopher, Larisa and Matthew Baumann, Allison (Curt) Tetzlaff, Brian (Allie) and Brett Wulfekuhle, Joey and Halle Wulfekuhle; a greatgrandson, Jackson Tetzlaff; two sisters, Virginette Hoffman, of Dyersville, and Leveda Drees, of Manchester; and two brothers, Lester, of Edgewood, and Wildred, of Warren, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leroy; a niece, Lori Wulfekuhle; and a nephew, Dale Drees.
