Jerome Leo “Jerry” Deutsch was born May 31, 1943, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Victor and Evelyn (Gebel) Deutsch. Read More	Jerry Deutsch age 72 of New Hampton died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his home from natural causes. Jerome Leo “Jerry” Deutsch was born May 31, 1943, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Victor and Evelyn (Gebel) Deutsch. He received his education in New Hampton and was a 1961 graduate of the New Hampton High School. As a young boy on the farm he was active in 4-H showing livestock. Jerry served in the United States Army in Germany for three years and was honorably discharged on March 19, 1965. On August 31, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Hampton, he married Kathy Smith, who he met at a dance in Lawler. The couple was blessed with two children. Jerry worked for 30 years at John Deere in Waterloo, retiring in 1995. Jerry was a member of Holy Family Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed watching football and Nascar and attending tractor pulls. He spent many hours working outside and taking care of his John Deere tractors. He especially loved quality time with his family and eagerly followed his grandchildren’s athletic events. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathy; one son, Jason Deutsch of Altoona, IA; one daughter, Kelly (Jason) Winter of Marquette, IA; four grandchildren, Jackson Deutsch, Blake Winter, Bailey Winter and Blair Winter; one brother, Jim (Bev) Deutsch of Parker, CO; two sisters, June Rosonke of New Hampton and Julie Wendl of Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Norb Rosonke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, at Holy Family Parish, New Hampton with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. Interment with military honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday.
