Weiser, 86, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at his daughter's home in Cimarron, Kansas. He was born December 15, 1924 at Bison to Hubert Cyrel and Anna Mater Weiser. He married Donna Lee Wheatcroft on August 15, 1945 at Diughton. They later divorced. Jerome was a member of Dighton American Legion Post #190. He was a lifetime resident of Dighton and graduated brom Dighton High School. He served as an electrician's mate third class in the United States Navy during World War II. He was stationed in the Asia Theater and was at the was at the signing of the peace treaty at Tokyo Bay. After his discharged he returned to Dighton and was a meat cutter at Mumma's Locker and Munstead IGA. He was the owner of Cottage Cafe in Dighton from 1973-1984. He became the sexton of Dighton Memorial Cemetery and served there until retiring in 2010. Jerome enjoyed watching all sports, Especially NASCAR, the Kansas City Royals. and horseracing. He bowled for many years and had a 300 game. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Rolland Sharp. Survivors include his daughter Brenda and Steve Kuhlman of Cimarron; two sons, Richard and Linda Weiser and Robert Weiser all of Dighton; nephew; Dennis and Pat Sharp of Dighton; neice; Pam and Brian Morris of Wichita; five grandchildren; Cody and Brett Kulhman, Nick Weiser, Kurt Cummins, Kim and Shane Bell; three great-granchhildren. Wyatt and Aspen Bell and Max Cummins. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m. Wednesday June 22, 2011 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Dighton, with Rev. Warren L. Stecklein. Burial willl be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery with the American Legion Post #190 conducting graveside rites. Memorials to American Legion Post #190 or Hospice of the Prairie may be made in care of Boomhower Funeral Home. Dighton, Kansas. Jerome I think knew where everyone was buried and could lead to the grave and tell you something about many of the graves.
