Description	:	DeWitt Adams was born Dec. 18, 1915 in Humboldt, the son of Wade Adams and Josephine DeWitt Adams Stoy. He was a graduate of Iola High School and attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. On Oct. 9, 1936 he married Rhea Meryl Chapin in Enid, Oklahoma. DeWitt was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army {Staff Sergeant with the 147th Infantry}in the Pacific Theater. Read More	DeWitt Adams was born Dec. 18, 1915 in Humboldt, the son of Wade Adams and Josephine DeWitt Adams Stoy. He was a graduate of Iola High School and attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. On Oct. 9, 1936 he married Rhea Meryl Chapin in Enid, Oklahoma. DeWitt was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army {Staff Sergeant with the 147th Infantry}in the Pacific Theater. After the war he worked for Kerrs Department Store in Oklahoma as a merchandise buyer until 1954 when the Adamses moved to Chicago. They moved to Cedar Raoids Iowa in 1957 where he worked as territory manager for J.P. Stevens in the Gullistan Carpet Division for more than 20 years. He was the top salesman in the nation for several years. In 1978 illness forced his early retirement and move to Humboldt, Kansas. Instead of giving in to his disabilities he was active in Humboldt during his retirement, selling real estate for Murrill Insurance. He was also a contributing cartoonist for the Humboldt Market Place Newspaper.
