Read More	* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Woodbine (IA) Twiner Dec. 2, 1965 YOUNG WOODBINE MAN KILLED IN CRASH OF AUTO Harrison county chalked up its fifth highway traffic death of the year when Jerry Dean Christensen, 22, of Woodbine, was killed in a one~car crash on Highway 39 seven miles southeast of Woodbine, Monday night. Christensen was driving a 1957 Chevrolet car which was going west. He was alone in the car. He was employed in construc~ tion work on an Interstate High~ way 80 project, authorities said. The accident happened three miles east of the junction of Highway 39 with U. S. Highway 30. The car struck the east end of the south guard rail of a concrete bridge. This is the second bridge from the inter~ section. The auto then careened to the north side and struck the north guard rail, went to the south side of the bridge and plunged over the top of the south rail. The car dropped about 10 or 15 feet into a ra~ vine It is believed the accident occurred some time between 8 and 9 p.m. Two women motorists who were passing by later noticed there had been an accident at the bridge. They reported this in Woodbine about 11 p.m. to Night Marshal John Rock. Mr. Rock passed the report on to the sheriffs office in Logan. Deputy Sheriff C. E. Baldwin was the first officer to reach the scene. he was joined in the investigation a short time later by Sheriff Louie Allstot. State Patrolman Don L. Jenkins and Dr. John Barnes, county medical examiner, the later two of Mis~ souri Valley. The officers found Christen~ sen dead and pinned in the wrecked car. A wrecker from Logan was used to free Christ~ ensen's body from the auto. Patrolman Jenkins said it took nearly two hours to remove the body. Christensen was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Christen~ sen of Woodbine. He also leaves his wife, Jac~ queline, two children, two step~ children, a sister, Mrs. Shirley Isaacs of Woodbine, and a brother Donald who lives In Omaha. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, from the Woodbine First Christian Church. Heft Funeral Home is in charge. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
