Christensen, 92, on Friday. November 1, 1996, at the First Christian Church in Woodbine. He died October 29 at Mercy Hospital. Council Bluffs, after undergoing three surgeries. Rev.John Ellen officiated the 2:00 p.m. final rites. Soloist Max Poe Was accompanied by Bob Smith on the organ. The selections were "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". Bearers were Larry Doeblin, Ray Isaacs, Gail Johnson, Larry Oliver, Terry Sorey and James Tully. Internment was in the Woodbine cemetery, Woodbine, Iowa. Fouts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Magnus A. Christensen was born December 8, 1903, to Marinus and Inger Marie Christensen in Denmark. He was one of 11 children. At the age of 22 Magnus came to the United States and stayed with an uncle in Nebraska for a short time. He then moved to Woodbine, where he worked on the farm for some time before renting. He was united in marriage to Lois Condron on April 3, 1930. They spent their married years on the farm until 1968, when Magnus retired and sold his farm. Then they built a new house in Woodbine, where they lived until Magnus became ill. He was a resident at Rose Vista Nursing Home, Woodbine, for the past three years. where he received a fall and broke his hip. Magnus was a member of the First Christian Church in Woodbine. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Christensen in 1965; daughter~in~law, Doris Christensen in 1991; four brothers, Kristian, Ejnar, Henrick and Kaj; and two sisters, Margrethe and Agnes. Survivors include his wife, Lois, of 66 years, of Woodbine; a son, Donald Christensen of Omaha; daughter, Shirley and husband Ray Isaacs of Woodbine; three sisters, Rigmor, Karan and Tove, and one brother, Viggo, all of Denmark; eight grandchildren and 14 great~ grandchildren. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
