Jerry was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on July 29, 1939, to Anthony Richard Kupris of Chicago and Viola LaVanche Blocker of Cloutier, Iowa. He was a big brother to sister Kay Hurt of Aurora, Illinois. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, performing in school stage productions, playing the piano and playing on many sports teams filled his school days at West Waterloo High School. Being a socialite with his lifelong friends of the FIJI Fraternity was his primary focus at his beloved University of Iowa. He earned and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in 1961. The greatest achievement of his college years was falling in true love with Linda Osborn of Hampton, Iowa. They had a deep commitment to one another through the challenges of work, wealth, health and children. Rewarding genuine respect and friendship were forged and they were married on June 12, 1960, by three Methodist ministers (both of Linda's grandparents were ministers). Jerry and Linda enjoyed life together for 52 years and now they will be together again in heaven above. Evidence of this special confirmation of this bond displayed as Jerry passed over on the 13th of March. 60 years to the day he met the love of his life in 1959. The church was always a big part of their lives; Linda singing in the choir and Jerry as a social director and deacon of the faith. Jerry was in the paper industry his whole life. He enjoyed being a traveling salesperson, visiting with clients and being part of the changing seasons. The Iowa Paper Company was a business he built with his father that employed many wonderful people that became lifelong friends. Jerry sold the business to semi-retire and enjoy all the rewards living in Clear Lake has to offer, providing a home/holiday destination for their family. Some of Jerry's accomplishments included Boy Scout Arrow of Light, Eagle Scout, Charitable Presbyterian Church Deacon, Business Leader, storyteller and friend to many, member of Rotary International and Elks Clubs. He was an avid golfer throughout life and lived overlooking a golf course in Green Valley, but he always considered Iowa his home. He was a father to a daughter and three sons, Kris Kupris Ore-Giron of Phoenix, Arizona, Tim Osborn Kupris of Sydney, Australia, Anthony Richard Kupris II of Eldridge, Iowa, and Blaine Joseph Kupris of Green Valley, Arizona; grandfather to nine grandchildren - Leah Hoover, Katie Anderson, Amanda, Derek, Kelly, Blaine, Beau, Jackson and Ellie Kupris; step-grandfather to six step-grandchildren - Chase Brenner, Evan Stork, Johnathan, Benjamin, Amber, and Kylie Ore-Giron; great grandfather to three great grandchildren - Artie Hoover, Zailee Kupris and Leyton Kupris.
