Description	:	A longtime resident of Ringling, Montana, J T McCurry died at his home there on Sept. 29, 2003, age the age of 82. He was born July 08, 1921, in Ringling to Jess Thomas "Tom" and Minnie Huntsinger McCurry. He was educated in Ringling, grade school and high school and then entered the U.S. Navy in World War II. Read More	A longtime resident of Ringling, Montana, J T McCurry died at his home there on Sept. 29, 2003, age the age of 82. He was born July 08, 1921, in Ringling to Jess Thomas "Tom" and Minnie Huntsinger McCurry. He was educated in Ringling, grade school and high school and then entered the U.S. Navy in World War II. After the war he worked in the movie industry in California as an extra when a horseback rider was required, and even, on at least one occasion, as a stand-in for John Wayne. On Sept 01, 1950, he and Florence Wildish were married in Sheridan, Wyoming. They returned to Ringling where they have made their home since. J T worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a section boss, Voldstedt and Buchannan sawmills and area ranches before he and Florence bought the bar in Ringling which was renamed JT's. They owned it for five years, but the name remains. He loved horses, enjoyed hunting and fishing and all outdoor activities and, in his retirement, observed eagles for Montana Power. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Isabel Marshall and Geraldine Olsen; half-brothers and sister, Chistopher, Thomas and Fay McCurry and James and Rex Smith and Viola Snodgrass. Survivors are his wife, Florence of Ringling; children, Pam and Dennis Thornes of Missoula, Kathleen and Scott Huffield of Pocatello, Idaho, Jay and Beth McCurry of Three Forks, Julie and Rod Younggren of Absarokee, and John and Beverly McCurry of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. At J T's request, no formal services will be held. An open house will be Saturday, Oct 04, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McCuury home in Ringling for all friends and family to gather for a time of remembrance and sharing.
