Brown, son of Henry and Clara Worrell Brown was born near Canton, Ill, on Feb 22, 1894, and passed away at the Veterans Hospital, Omaha, Nebr, on March 14, 1968 at the age of 74 years and 22 days. He moved with his parents from Illinois to Barton County, Mo, where they resided for 3 years and then moved to Page County, Iowa and in 1912 moved to Taylor County where he resided. Brown, son of Henry and Clara Worrell Brown was born near Canton, Ill, on Feb 22, 1894, and passed away at the Veterans Hospital, Omaha, Nebr, on March 14, 1968 at the age of 74 years and 22 days. He moved with his parents from Illinois to Barton County, Mo, where they resided for 3 years and then moved to Page County, Iowa and in 1912 moved to Taylor County where he resided. He entered the military service on Feb 23, 1918 and served his country in France until the Armistice on November 11. In 1920, he became a member of the Church of Christ in New Market where he remained a faithful servant of his Lord until his death. He was married to Opal Alice Cunning on Feb 22, 1922. To this union were born two children Eva, now Mrs Alvin Karg, and Willard Brown both of New Market. Jesse farmed in Taylor County until 1945 when he went to Indiana to work in a defense plant. At the end of Second World War he returned to New Market where he was employed at Berry's Poultry Farm in Clarinda, later working at the New Market school and at the Mental Health Institute where he retired in 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, a sister, Alma, and a brother, Charles. He is survived by his wife Opal, daughter and son-in-law Eva and Alvin Karg, son and daughter-in-law Willard and Jayne Brown, five grandchildren Gary, Karen, and Kathy Karg, and Meredith and Melissa Brown, two brothers, Henry Brown of New Market and Robert Brown of Blockton; three sisters, Mrs Alena Pace of New Market, Mrs Alice Preeo of Thornton, Calif, and Mrs Bertha Miller of Napa, Calif, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the New Market Church of Christ at 2:00 pm Monday, March 18, 1968, with Preacher Glen Mitchell in charge. Soloist was Shirley Larson who sang "Above The Bright Blue" and "Beyond The Sunset." Pianist was Janice Hardee. Ushers at the church was Merle Harland, Robert Malcom and Dean Moore. Casket bearers were, Thomas L. Harris, Robert Malcom, Roy Snodgrass, Dell Damewood, Paul Depew, and Claude Cavender. Members of the New Market American Legion Post No 300 were in charge of the Military Graveside Service, and burial was in Memory Cemetery near New Market.
