Mr. Milliken was a native of Chatham County and graduated from Siler City High School. Read More	Jesse Edwards Milliken, 85 died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center.A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 am at St. James United Methodist Church in Greenville. Mr. Milliken was a native of Chatham County and graduated from Siler City High School. Following high school, he attended Duke University, served in the Navy during the Korean War, and returned home where he was employed by Boling Chair Co. for thirteen years. His next employment was with Alma Desk Company in High Point for three years, after which he organized his own company, Institutional Interiors, Inc. He retired in 1990.Jesse was a Rotarian, became a Mason, and went through the Scottish Rites at age 22. He was a member of Siler City Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites in Greensboro, and Oasis Shine in Charlotte. Jesse was often quoted as saying he "was born a Baptist, sprinkled a Methodist, and joined the Presbyterian Church." He eventually transferred his membership to St. James United Methodist Church in 2000.In his free time, Jesse loved golf, a game that he played with passion. He enjoyed watching golf tournaments after his health precluded him from getting on the course. Jesse was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dr. and Mrs. John B. Milliken, of Siler City; and wives, Margaret Moore Milliken of Pittsboro and Lorraine Beaty Milliken, of Siler City.He is survived by his: wife of 30 years, Betty Sugg Milliken, of Greenville; daughters, Emery Edwards Milliken and Margaret Milliken Browning and husband, Chris, all of Raleigh; son, John Drury Milliken and wife, Lisa, also of Raleigh; two step-daughters, Amy C. Bath and Malinda C. Harrington and husband, Mike, of Greenville; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Martha, Catherine, Austin, Mary Beth, Emily, Annalise, Christopher, Brooks, Meredith and Rowen; and sisters, Mary Louise Milliken Thompson and husband, Reid, of Chevy Chase, MD and Elizabeth Milliken Golding, of Rochester Hills, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 2000 E. 6th St., Greenville, NC 27858 or to Humane Society of Eastern Carolina, 3520 Tupper Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
