"Bill" CALVERT, 89, formerly of 1422 S. Park Road, Rochester, died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hickory Creek of Rochester. Born in Fulton County, he was the son of Forrest A. and Susan May Waltz Calvert. He was a lifetime resident of this community. On Aug. 31, 1942, in Bennetsville, S.C. he married Marjorie Bernice Carithers. She preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1990. He worked as a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rural Letter Carriers Association, Fulton County Campers Association and Rochester IOOF Lodge. He was a Boy Scout leader and former teacher for Win-A-Couple at church. He enjoyed playing euchre, gardening and church activities. He especially enjoyed time with his family. He is survived by a son, Marc Calvert and wife Julie, Rochester; five grandchildren, Lyndee Calvert of Wabash, Corey Calvert and wife Amy of Rochester, Chad Calvert and fiancée Jodi Dell of North Manchester, Jason Calvert and wife Christine of Rochester and Kyle Calvert and wife Laura of Rochester; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Rock of Tippecanoe, Carol Saenz of Mishawaka, Helen Enyart and husband Richard of Rochester and Barb Tullis and husband Bud of Rochester; numerous nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Calvert of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alan Calvert, on Sept. 29, 2006; a sister, Clara Reeser; and four brothers, Ralph, Jim, Pete and Robert Calvert. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Pastor Buck Padilla officiating. Burial will be at Rochester IOOF Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service.
