Calvert, March 2, 1916-Sept. 27, 2005, Robert A. Calvert, 89, Rochester and a former Talma resident, died at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday at Hickory Creek of Rochester where he was a patient for two years. His health was failing the past several months. Born in Fulton County to Forrest A. and Susan May Waltz Calvert, he lived his entire life in Rochester, Richland Center and Talma communities of Fulton County. On Nov. 26, 1936, he married Eldora M. Bowman at Mentone Baptist Church, Mentone. She preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1985. Mr. Calvert was a former employee of Talma Fastener and the Rochester Greenhouse. He was a member of Talma United Methodist Church, the Talma and Newcastle Lions Club and Mentone Masonic Lodge No. 576. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served in the European theater. He loved to garden and raised vegetables and flowers with his wife Eldora. Survivors include his son, Roy Calvert and wife Pat, Talma; one daughter-in-law, Judy Calvert, Talma; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Rock, Bourbon, Clara Reser, Rochester, Carol Saenz, Mishawaka, Helen Enyart and husband Richard, Rochester, Barb Tullis and husband Bud, Rochester; one brother, Jesse "Bill" Calvert, Rochester; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Roberta Stevens in January 1990; a son, Rolland D. Calvert in June 2002; two great-grandchildren, Michelle McQueary on Aug. 27, 1973, and Johnny McQueary on Sept. 5, 1981; and three brothers, Ralph, Pete and Jim Calvert. His funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St. (Indiana 14 West), Rochester, with Pastor Bill Kaiser officiating. Burial is at Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to his service Friday at the funeral home.
