Read More	OBITUARY– - GLASSEL Jesse Lee Glassel was born at Valley Falls, Kansas, January 22, 1872, and departed this life at his home near Valley Falls, May 9, 1918, at the age of 46 years, 3 months and 16 days. On December 17, 1893 [in Valley Falls] he was united in marriage to Bessie A. Robertson. To this union were born three children, Ethel M., Walter R., and Cecil W. All of whom are still at home. Mr. Glassel gave his heart to Christ in 1888 at Nortonville, Kansas and later became identified with the Church of Christ at Valley Falls, where he has since remained a member. He leaves besides the wife, sons and daughter, one sister and two brothers, a number of other relatives and a large circle of friends who shall deeply feel the loss. In his going the community sustains the loss of an esteemed citizen, the church a faithful and consecrated member, many individuals a true friend, and the home a kind and devoted husband and father. A short service was conducted from the home at 2 p.m. Saturday and the funeral service was held from the Christian Church at 2:30, conducted by Rev. I. A. Wilson of White City, Kansas, former pastor and personal friend of the family. The burial was in the Farrar cemetery. Those in attendance at the services from a distance were: Mr. M. J. Robertson of Kansas City; Mrs. Eva Glassel of Kansas City; Mr. Ed Glassel of Grafton, Iowa; Mr. Ferdinand Glassel of Kensett, Iowa; Mrs. Freeda Moore, of McLouth, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Evans of White City, Kansas; Mrs. J. K. O'Neil of Kansas City and Miss Luella Sway of Manhattan. A number from Winchester, Nortonville, Denison and other points were present.
