Read More	Cherokee Sentinel, Friday, June 24, 1949, page 1: Jess McClure Dies At County Home Jess McClure, 65, died Tuesday morning at the Crawford County home near Girard, where he was taken Monday from his home in this city, after officials found he was ill and needed attention. It was not thought at the time he was removed that he was as sick as he proved to be. He was a retired coal miner, and a character in this vicinity for many years. He was born on a farm near Cherokee September 27, 1883, and had worked in mines in both Cherokee and Crawford counties. He also worked in the mines in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Graveside services were held on Wednesday morning in the Cherokee cemetery with Rev. G.M. Pierce officiating. The Kirkpatrick chapel of Girard had charge of arrangements. There were no close relatives so far as known. Several second, third and fourth cousins were found.
